Hi, this past Saturday I put together a Family Reunion for 200+ people using the Hawaiian theme. We had our reunion at an outside picnic area that had pools, games, etc. and our event was held under a big tent. I purchased decorations such as centerpieces, blow up palm trees & parrots, and streamers that we affixed to the tent to hang down, etc. from Dollar Tree and hung them up.

Depending on when you are having your reunion, you need to hit all the Dollar Trees early. If it's this year, things will be picked over but look online and see if you can buy them in bulk from their website.

I started shopping in March & April and was able to buy all of my decorations early and a few days leading up to the reunion, I went back to get a few more decorations and they were sold out. That's a very popular theme.

For leis, I bought 100 for $15 at Oriental trading (ended up order about 250), name badges in the Luau theme, gift bags for each attendee from papermart.com, and Luau Theme items 250 items for $34.99, or 50 for $9.99 for kids which contained Luau printed toys, pencils, tattoos, etc. It was a big hit. For the ladies, I ordered hair flowers from Oriental Trading - that are clip on barrettes and the ladies got to wear them. I found 2 Hawaiian type of straw hats from Dollar Tree that I used to set up my photo display. I ordered tropical (hawaiian paper lanterns that were hung also.

I created 4 photo displays of about 36 x 36 (collage) and decorated the table area with the grass skirt for the table, fringe, tropical flowers (again from Dollar Tree), etc. You can do it.

I probably spent about $200-250 on decorations (due to the gift bags that I bought) but you can decorate the tent nicely with things from the Dollar Tree for less than $50. I also bought real coconuts and displayed them on the table as centerpieces & leis around them to dress them up. Each guest could take the coconuts home and they ended up taking the yard signs (luau themed) and most of the decorations too.
